ToggleXintao Supports African Natural Gas Dehydration Project
Meeting Africa’s Natural Gas Dehydration Needs
A major natural gas processing facility in Africa required a reliable solution to remove moisture from its feed gas. Water in natural gas can cause hydrates, corrosion, and reduced pipeline efficiency – making dehydration a critical step before transmission or liquefaction. The facility’s gas dryers operate on a cyclic adsorption/regeneration schedule, demanding a desiccant with both high water capacity and long mechanical life.

After reviewing multiple international suppliers, the client sought 4A molecular sieves as the primary adsorbent and ceramic balls as support media. Key requirements included:
- Efficient water removal across varying flow rates
- Low pressure drop to maintain production throughput
- High crush resistance to prevent bed degradation and dust formation
- Compatibility with thermal regeneration cycles
- Full documentation (SDS, analysis certificates, loading procedures)
Xintao responded with a proposal featuring our export-grade molecular sieve 4A zeolites and inert alumina ceramic balls – backed by proven success in gas processing projects across the Middle East, Central Asia, and Russia. Our bid emphasized not only product quality but also flexible logistics and technical support for loading and commissioning.
Xintao Solution: 4A Molecular Sieves & Ceramic Balls
Xintao’s 4A molecular sieve adsorbents are specifically engineered for natural gas drying. The 4A pore size (approximately 4 angstroms) allows water molecules to enter while excluding larger hydrocarbons such as methane and ethane – a key advantage that preserves the heating value of the gas while delivering deep drying.

Key performance features of Xintao’s 4A zeolite for natural gas dehydration include:
- High water adsorption capacity– enabling longer adsorption cycles and less frequent regeneration
- Low attrition loss– minimizing fine dust that could foul valves or downstream equipment
- Uniform bead size and shape– promoting even gas flow and preventing channeling
- Excellent crush strength– withstanding thermal cycling and the weight of the bed
To support the molecular sieve bed, Xintao supplied 50 metric tons of ceramic balls in graded diameters (e.g., 6 mm, 13 mm, and a mixed size range). These inert alumina ceramic balls serve three critical functions:
- Distributing incoming gas evenly across the bed cross-section
- Supporting the molecular sieve layer without the need for metallic internals
- Protecting the sieve from thermal shock during high-temperature regeneration
The loading arrangement followed industry best practices: a bottom layer of smaller ceramic alumina balls, a thicker intermediate layer of larger balls, the zeolite 4A molecular sieve desiccant in the middle, and a top ceramic ball bead layer to prevent bed fluidization. Fine and coarse mesh screens separate each layer, ensuring no intermixing and easy future replacement.

On-Time Delivery & Global Track Record
Xintao submitted its technical and commercial bid in May 2025. After a thorough evaluation of product quality, delivery capability, and past references, Xintao received the award in late November 2025. Production commenced immediately, and all 150 tons of 4A molecular sieves plus 50 tons of ceramic balls were shipped by April 2026 – fully meeting the client’s project schedule.
This African project adds to Xintao’s growing list of successful natural gas dehydration references across the Middle East, Central Asia, Russia, and now Africa. Our export-grade adsorbents and inert balls have repeatedly proven to be a superior alternative to foreign-sourced products, offering:
- Shorter lead times and flexible logistics
- Customizable specifications (particle size, crush strength, bulk density)
- Full traceability from raw material to finished product
- On-site technical support for loading and commissioning

Conclusion
Whether you are upgrading existing dryers or building a new gas treatment plant, Xintao natural gas drying 4A molecular sieves and ceramic balls deliver reliable, cost-effective performance. Our 150-ton and 50-ton supply to Africa is just one example of how we help clients achieve dry gas, stable operations, and long bed life – anywhere in the world.
