Application of Zinc Oxide Desulfurizer

Zinc oxide desulfurizer usually uses zinc oxide (ZnO) as the main active ingredient, and its crystal structure is generally wurtzite-type. At the microscopic level, ZnO particles show a certain particle size distribution and have a porous structure. These pores vary in size, ranging from micropores to mesopores. The numerous tiny pores greatly increase the specific surface area of the desulfurizer, exposing a large number of active sites, providing sufficient contact space for the reaction with sulfur-containing compounds.

Zinc oxide desulfurizer has a high sulfur capacity and can adsorb and remove a large amount of sulfur. More sulfur elements can be loaded on a unit mass or volume of desulfurizer, thereby extending the service life of the desulfurizer and reducing the frequency of replacement. After being prepared by a specific process and adding additives, the desulfurizer has a certain mechanical strength and can withstand the scouring, friction and other forces caused by gas flow in industrial equipment. It is not easy to break or pulverize during use, ensuring the stable operation of the device. In addition, it also has the characteristics of high activity, fast reaction speed, and high desulfurization accuracy. Under certain temperature, pressure and other conditions, zinc oxide can quickly react with sulfur-containing compounds such as hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) and mercaptan (RSH), quickly fix sulfur, and react quickly to achieve efficient desulfurization. It can also remove the sulfur content in the gas to an extremely low level. For example, in some processes with strict requirements on sulfur content, sulfur can be removed to 0.1ppm or even lower, meeting the needs of high-precision desulfurization.

Applications of Zinc Oxide Desulfurizer

Synthesis Gas Purification: In the process of producing synthesis gas (CO and H₂ mixed gas) using coal, natural gas and other raw materials, the raw gas often contains a certain amount of sulfur impurities. The use of zinc oxide desulfurizer can effectively remove these sulfurs, prevent the subsequent synthesis catalyst from being deactivated due to sulfur poisoning, and ensure the quality of the synthesis gas. It is widely used in industrial production such as synthetic ammonia and methanol synthesis. ​

Petroleum Refining: In the process of petroleum refining, sulfur-containing compounds in crude oil will corrode equipment and affect the quality of oil products. Zinc oxide desulfurizer can be used for desulfurization and refining of gasoline, diesel and other oil products, reducing the sulfur content in oil products, meeting increasingly stringent environmental protection standards, and improving the stability and combustion performance of oil products.

Natural Gas Purification: Natural gas often contains sulfur components such as hydrogen sulfide. Before it is used as city gas or chemical raw materials, it needs to be desulfurized. Zinc oxide desulfurizer can efficiently remove sulfur from natural gas, ensure the safe transportation and clean use of natural gas, and avoid damage to pipelines and subsequent utilization equipment. ​

Fine Chemicals: In the production process of some fine chemical products, the sulfur content in the raw gas or reaction system is extremely high.
