Application of Molecular Sieve in the Petroleum Industry

Molecular sieve beads are very important chemical additives, catalysts and adsorption materials in the petrochemical industry. Its materials have the ability to preferentially adsorb polar molecules and saturated molecules. Thus, molecular sieve desiccant with different polarity, saturation, molecular diameter and thermal stability are separated, which has the “screening” effect of separating adsorbed molecules, so it is called molecular sieve.

Structural Characteristics

First, the basic structural unit is composed of regular tetrahedrons centered on silicon and aluminum atoms. Secondly, many regular tetrahedrons are connected by oxygen bridges to form a ring structure. Xintao molecular sieve zeolite is a multi-microporous crystal of aluminosilicate, which has a uniform pore size and extremely high specific surface area. It has the characteristics of good thermal stability, strong adsorption performance and high strength.

Application of molecular sieve in the petroleum industry

Molecular sieve adsorbents are widely used in the catalytic process of traditional petroleum and chemical industry, the ion exchange process required for the treatment of waste gas and waste liquid in the daily necessities industry and the radioactive industry of coal mines, etc. The application of molecular sieves zeolite in the field of petrochemical industry has been continuously expanded, which has promoted the rapid economic development of our country. In the petrochemical industry, it is mainly used in oil cracking, ethylene, propylene drying, natural gas drying, carbon dioxide desorption, hydrocracking purification, etc.  

According to the function, molecular sieve materials with adsorption capacity are mainly used in the chemical industry and environmental purification and separation industry, as well as desiccant and other fields. Since the physical adsorption of its materials can adsorb substances, the internal micropores have strong polarity and Coulomb field, which can adsorb polar molecules and unsaturated molecules. Granular molecular sieve can be used as adsorbents to remove heavy metal ions in wastewater treatment, treat organic wastewater, and the modified molecular sieves can remove compounds in water with good results. In the field of gas separation, molecular sieve adsorbents can be used for pressure swing adsorption to produce nitrogen, carbon dioxide, oxygen, etc.
