Application Of Molecular Sieve 3A


Molecular Sieve 3A is also known as KA molecular sieve with pore size of 3 angstroms(0.3nm). The raw material is zeolite powder, in processing of Na ion exchange. After baking under high temperature, molecular sieve itself has water absorption ability, can also absorb other polar molecules. 3A molecular sieve is mainly used to adsorb water and doesn’t adsorb any molecule larger than 3A in diameter.

Molecular Sieve 3A is suitable for gas and liquid drying, hydrocarbon dehydration. Widely used for oil cracking gas, ethylene, propylene and natural gas deep drying. According to the characteristics of industrial applications. Xintao 3A Molecular Sieve, has the advantages of faster adsorption speed, more regeneration times, higher crushing strength, stronger anti-pollution ability, greater utilization efficiency and longer service life.

Molecular Sieve 3A is a desiccant necessary for the deep drying, refining and polymerization of gas and liquid phases in the petroleum and chemical industries.

Typical Application:  

a) Be mainly used for the drying of petroleum cracking gas such as ethylene, propylene, butadiene and other unsaturated hydrocarbons.

b) Drying of highly polar compounds, such as methanol and ethanol.

c) Drying of air.

d) Drying of natural gas and methane gas.


Molecular sieve should prevent pre-adsorption of water, organic gas or liquid before use, otherwise, should be regenerated.


1. Moisture removal: depends on the water content, the pressure and temperature of the regenerated gas. Usually, 200-350 ℃ dry gas in under the pressure of 0.3 to 0.5 kg/cm 2 through molecular sieve bed 3 to 4 hours, which makes the outlet temperature to 110-180 ℃, then cooling.

2. Disorganize: replace organic matter with water vapor, then remove the water.

Storage: Keep indoor with humidity no more than 90% ; Avoid water, acid, alkali; Air isolated; Sealed.
